Let YOUR Voice Be Heard!

Teaching Philosophy

“There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.”
-Beverly Sills

In my teaching practice, I am dedicated to cultivating an environment where every student feels supported and empowered to discover and develop their own unique voice. I believe that each individual has a distinct sound waiting to be explored, and it is my role as an educator to guide them on this transformative journey.First and foremost, I strive to create a safe and inclusive space that encourages students to embrace their authentic selves. I understand that singing, and even speaking, can be a vulnerable and intimidating experience, and I am committed to creating an atmosphere of trust and acceptance. By providing a nurturing environment, I aim to instill the confidence necessary for students to express themselves fully through their voice. One of the main principles of my teaching philosophy is the belief that a solid Classical technique serves as a strong foundation for any singer. I emphasize the teaching of practical Classical techniques, particularly the fundamentals of bel canto. By mastering these techniques, students gain a deep understanding of vocal technique and develop the necessary control and flexibility to explore various musical styles with ease. Voice science also contributes to the information that I teach. While Classical technique forms the core of our work together, I recognize the importance of individuality and encourage students to embrace their own unique sound in various genres. I believe that each voice is distinct and should be celebrated, and I provide guidance and support to help students discover and nurture their personal vocal identity. By encouraging exploration and self-expression, I aim to create well-rounded and confident singers. In addition to technical training, I place great emphasis on the holistic development of my students. I guide them in developing a personalized warm-up routine that addresses their specific needs for each day. By encouraging the practice of self-awareness, I teach them to listen to their bodies and adapt their practice accordingly. This approach promotes healthy vocal habits and ensures that their voices are nurtured and protected in the long term.As a vocal instructor, it is my responsibility to equip my students with the tools they need to succeed and maintain a healthy voice throughout their musical journey. I prioritize vocal longevity and teach techniques that promote vocal health and longevity. By imparting knowledge on proper vocal care and maintenance, I empower my students to become self-sufficient and independent musicians. Finally, I am deeply committed to encouraging my students to let their voices be heard. I believe that everyone has a story to tell, and singing is a powerful means of communication. I foster an environment that celebrates individual expression and encourage my students to embrace their unique voices, both on and off the stage. I aim to instill in them the confidence to share their artistry with the world and make a positive impact through their singing—because when singers trust their voice, they don’t just perform, they communicate. Let YOUR voice be heard!
